1. Submitted to Journal 當上傳結束后，顯示的狀態是Submitted to Journal，這個狀態是自然形成的無需處理。
2. With editor 如果在投稿的時候沒有要求選擇編輯，就先到主編那里，主編會分派給別的編輯。這當中就會有另兩個狀態： ① Editor assigned　編輯分派 ② Editor Declined Invitation　編輯拒絕邀請，這時主編不得不將投稿文章重新分派給其它編輯。
3. Reviewer(s) invited 說明編輯已接手處理，正在邀請審稿人中。有時該過程會持續很長時間，如果其中原因是編輯一直沒有找到合適的審稿人，這時投稿者可以向編輯推薦審稿人。
4. Under review 審稿人的意見已上傳，說明審稿人已接受審稿，正在審稿中，這應該是一個漫長的等待（期刊通常會限定審稿人審稿時間，一般為一個月左右）。當然前面各步驟也可能很慢的，要看編輯的處理情況。如果被邀請審稿人不想審，就會decline，編輯會重新邀請別的審稿人。
5. required review completed 審稿結束，等編輯處理，該過程短則幾天，長則無期，科學堂有一篇文章出現required review completed狀態已近一個月了，還是沒有消息。
6. Decision in Process 到了這一步就快要有結果了，編輯開始考慮是給修改還是直接拒，當然也有可能直接接受的，但可能性很小，呵呵。
7. Minor revision/Major revision 小修/大修，這個時候可以稍微慶祝一下了，因為有修改就有可能。具體怎么改就不多說了，謙虛謹慎是不可少的（因為修改后一般會再發給審稿人看，所以一定要細心的回答每一個審稿人的每一個問題，態度要謙遜，要讓審稿人覺得他提的每個問題都很有水準的，然后針對他的問題，一個一個的做出答復，能修改的就修改，不能修改的給出理由，而且都要列出來，文章的哪一段哪一行修改了最好都說出來，記住：給審稿人減少麻煩就是給你自己減少麻煩！另注：有時，審稿人會在修改意見里隱諱里說出要你仔細閱讀某幾篇文獻，這時可要注意了，其中某些文章可能就是評審者自己發表的，這時你最好在你的修改稿中加以引用），修改后被拒絕的例子也多不勝數的。
8. Revision Submitted to Journal 修改后重新提交，等待編輯審理。
9. Accepted 如果不要再審，只是小修改，編輯看后會馬上顯示這個狀態，但如果要再審也會有上面的部分狀態。一步會比較快，但也有慢的。看雜志的。
10. Rejected 相信大家見了Rejected，都會很郁悶。但也不要太灰心，耐心將評審意見看完，一般評審者會給出有益的建議，相信看后你會有所收獲。

原來with associate editor對有些期刊也有under review 的意思。
